This year, December 3, 2015, I had the privilege of sitting in on the presentation of the introduction of 2016’s color of the year. It was a treat for me and one I would invite you to consider joining.
My personal observation as I have become more and more accustom to watching the trends is that some suite the pallet instantly and some take a bit to become accustom to. That is of course a personal preference and each of us have a different taste.
Each of us can live with some colors and other colors well…as I say it’s a personal preference.
As an example, a few years back the color trend incorporated the grays and yellows. You saw new fabric patterns, new bead patterns that threw these two colors together. You see it in all the display windows everywhere you looked.
I like each color individually but it was not a color combo that I wore. I had a hard time with it…I flat out did not like it, at the beginning. It took a bit of work for my eye to adjust to. But the more you live with seeing this combo and paying attention to the different hues well it did eventually grow on me. Now…I love the combo. I’m on board, I still don’t wear it but I do enjoy seeing the combination of the colors.
The down fall to that is it may have run it’s course….regardless, I’m still loving it now.
I believe this year’s color honored position will be an easier transition. For the first time Pantone has blended two colors to create 2016’s color of the year.
Rose Quartz and Serenity; A soft blue and pink combined.
In Pantone’s press release this pairing was described as
“A harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace.”
Are you not already finding it…like EVERYWHERE.
I can’t even look at the morning skies or dusk without being reminded of the color of the year. It’s a very soothing color that transitions easily into each other.
Now this one color may have the honored title as the color of the year but there is a whole pallet of colors to consider for the year of 2016 as well. We will look at those as we visit more on this topic through the year. We’ll discuss things like how they influence our bead designs for either what we make for our own wardrobe, gifts to family and friends or perhaps for a line of jewelry that you may be creating for this year.
But more on that another time.
Wanna see just a bit more…enjoy this little video from Pantone…as you watch it think of how it will inspire your projects for this coming year.
So there you have it…2016 Color of the Year.
But tell me…what do you think? How often do you see it in your everyday life? Will you be influenced by it in your jewelry and accessories creations? Let’s hear from you.
Until next time…
